07/06/2010: "The iPad: A Portfolio Revolution?"
Photo District News interviewed myself, Zack Seckler, and Emmanuel Faure for an article about how photographers are using the iPad as a portfolio. A snippet of my interview is below. You can also check out the July print edition to see the entire article.
"So much of what we do as still photographers is multi-purposed beyond just print," he says. "I don't even plan to really use it as a portable portfolio, even thought I always have it with me when I travel and go to meetings. I'd rather show a print book." He says he decided to make an iPad compatible Web site for creatives who come to his Web site on an iPad who will then automatically be directed to his iPad site.
"I'm also doing a lot of motion work now," he explains, "so I wanted to understand the difference between how a still image feels versus how a video feels on an iPad. It's all pretty basic research as part of what my job is as a photographer." (Both Lindsey's iPad and iPhone sites are now linked to his motion reel.)
"What this all comes down to is that the iPad is a real game changer for me and for the industry," Lindsey sums up. "And that being the case, I felt it was important that I understand this device as best I could and understand its applications for my clients, if they come to me with a project, as to how imagery can look on an iPad."
