This workshop will explore the basics of filmmaking and time-lapse using DSLR cameras to make a short film. This is a 7 day, hands-on workshop for those who learn by doing and experimenting. The film we make will be based on local legends and stories told by Jon Þórðarson, a local fishing guide, set in and around fishing village of Bildudalur. We will explore moss covered lava fields, the fjords by boat and hear stories of the vikings while exploring historic ruins. We will incorporate time-lapse photography into our film, and cover the basics of DSLR shooting, audio recording and storytelling with images. The workshop size will be kept at a maximum of 8 participants so we can focus on everyone's individual interests. Jason Lindsey will be joining Enrique Pacheco to lead this workshop August 2-7, 2011.
Jason shot the film below while teaching a workshop last year in Ireland.
Enrique's latest film shot in Iceland is below.
Get ready to explore, experiment, play, learn, make a film and have fun. Most importantly, we will explore the creative process while creating a film in an exotic location, the Westfjords and Snaæfellsnes Peninsula of Iceland.

The workshop will take us to the Westfjords area and the Snaæfellsnes Peninsula, both in the western part of Iceland. The Westfjords is a strange looking peninsula in the northwest corner of Iceland. Ice-age glaciers cut the peninsula, and between deep fjords are steep mountains and fishing villages. It has some of the most picturesque scenes in Iceland. There are about 5,000 people living there, supporting themselves mostly by fishing. The people are friendly and the villages offer a rare sight in modern times. The Snaæfellsnes Peninsula, equally as picturesque, has been isolated and un-inhabited for almost a century.
The summers are filled with tranquility and exceptional beauty, jagged peaks and lush valleys are beautifully lit by the evening sun for hours upon hours and the days never end.
This workshop has an emphasis on the landscape, people and the culture of Iceland. You will have a chance to visit people’s homes, meet intriguing characters and hear adventurous tales of heroic proportions.
PRICE: $2250 and includes workshop fee, lodging, meals and transportation during the workshop. Does not include flights to Iceland.
