I grew up surrounded by people best described as “salt of the earth.” As a kid in that kind of environment, you learn pretty quickly to be creative and resourceful. Simply put, I do whatever it takes to get the shots because I do not know another way. Authenticity is part of who I am at the core. I enjoy nothing more than the seeing how my son reacts to the world with such genuineness.
I am honored to have been selected by Archive Magazine as one of the 200 Best Ad Photographers worldwide for 2018/2019.
That work ethic and resourcefulness comes in handy when creating a library of hundreds of images. I love the challenge of shooting libraries and hybrid video and still shoots with a cinematic style. As a former art director, I understand the relationship between art and commerce. As an experienced photojournalist, I create a narrative for the brand. As a Photographer and Director, I use this experience to create libraries of images that tell honest stories with real moments and emotions that pull viewers into the shot. I love shooting in water up to my neck, swimming with sharks, laying in the mud and doing whatever it takes to get the shot. Mostly because that's often what it takes to make great shots but it is also a great way to live life.
Big shoot, small shoot, big crew, small crew, ice, snow, rain, etc.; you name it and we are up for the challenge. I thrive in challenging environments while thinking on my feet.
All the fun and all the amazing images I am privileged to make are possible because of the amazing producers and teams we put together. The pre-production process is even more important today with library and hybrid video and still shoots and those teams deserve a lot of credit. Thanks to all those producers and crew! Let's go shoot and play in the mud! Mud is optional for clients but usually not for me ;-)
